Coaches Development

Coaches Development

Our National coaches’ certification program is comprised of 3 levels of certification which incorporates the Canadian National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP).  BTABC strives to maintain a large repertoire of coaches at all levels in order to offer diverse and exciting programs within each of our clubs/affiliations throughout the province.

Coach in Training

Prerequisite - An athlete or interested individual must be a minimum of 14 years of age.   Must be a member in good standing and hold a valid BTABC membership.

Coaches begin their training by participating and successfully completing the CBTF Level 1 Coaching Course.  Seminar is approximately 8 to 10 hours long.

Once this is successfully completed participants are considered a “Coach in Training” and have the technical knowledge to instruct the Skills Development Program and Recreational athletes.

Level 1 Coach

Participants remain as Coaches in Training until they complete the National Coaches Certification Program Part A seminar.  In order to participate in the NCCP program participants must be a minimum of 16 years of age

Once both of these are successfully completed the member is considered a Level 1 Coach

Level II Coach

Prerequisite - An athlete or interested individual must be a minimum of 16 years of age.  Must be a fully certified Level 1 Coach, be a member in good standing and hold a valid BTABC membership.

Coaches begin their training by participating and successfully completing the CBTF Level 2 Coaching Course.  Seminar is approximately 15 hours long.

Attendance at the NCCP Course Introduction to Competition – Part B

Once these are successfully completed the participant is considered a Level 2 Coach and has the technical knowledge to instruct level 1 athlete as well as Pre-Competitive and higher levels of the Skills Development Program.

Level III Coach

Prerequisite - An athlete or interested individual must be a minimum of 16 years of age.  Must be a fully certified Level 2 Coach, be a member in good standing and hold a valid BTABC membership.

Coaches begin their training by participating and successfully completing the CBTF Level 3 Coaching Course.  Seminar is approximately 15 hours long.

Attendance at the NCCP Course Introduction to Competition – Part B (replacing level 2 Theory)

Once these are successfully completed the participant is considered a Level 3 Coach and has the technical knowledge to instruct level 1 and 2 athletes as well as all competitive athletes.
